| Increasingly, American cities, towns, counties, and
states compete with one another to attract corporate headquarters, manufacturing plants, shipping
hubs, and service centers to their area. To some degree, tribal communities enjoy unique advantages
as they enter the fray of business recruitment. |
| |
| The availability of a flexible and willing workforce,
for example, is often a deciding factor for companies evaluating their choices for relocation or
start-up. Many tribal communities have available workforces to offer. The Choctaws are a case
in point - they now serve as the largest employer in Mississippi, with six thousand employees
working in various joint ventures. |
